Mountain rescue – Avoriaz:
Mont Blanc Helicopters intervenes in the mountains to contribute to the safety on the slopes. We have conducted more than 50,000 rescue operations at altitude to date, both in the Portes du Soleil ski area and in the Grand Massif.
This activity is in our DNA since 1990. We intervene for medical air rescue missions at the request of local authorities, in accordance with the law n° 85-30 of January 9, 1985. This work, complementary to the security services present on the slopes, allows us to mobilize teams with doctors to treat and evacuate the victims of the most serious accidents. The latter can thus be repatriated very quickly to be taken care of in an appropriate medical facility.
The MBH Avoriaz team also ensures the security of the slopes within the framework of the Avalanche Intervention and Release Plans (PIDA). Thanks to our helicopters, we can access hard-to-reach areas to drop explosive charges. This process is effective in triggering avalanches when heavy snowfall makes the practice of winter sports risky for the public.
